My name is Susan Eacock and I was a lifetime member of a slimming club for a long period of time. In fact I have re-joined this year (2010) as I have found to my horror, the weight creeping up a gain............

The original idea was to set up a Website Directory with lots of information and tips for people, who like myself have over the years endured weight problems. The website is a directory for people looking for information on slimming issues, foods, exercise, eating out and other topics relating to health and fitness. It is not a medical service or a slimming club.

Thirty years a go when I gave up smoking, little did I know then, that another pitfall was lurking in the background waiting to jump out and attack me?  Its name was obesity – one of the scourges of our modern day society. If you are reading this page you will know what I mean!

I cannot exactly remember the day I woke and found to my horror that my small petite size 10 had disappeared and in its place was a rather large size 14 come 16 weighing 12 stone 10 pounds.  To my disgust I found I was a stone heavier then, than when I had my last child.

It was, I guess a gradual decline into obesity.  It was not immediately noticeable to my family and friends as I hid, (like most people in my position did) under baggy tea-shirts and jogging bottoms. Recognise the picture? Yes, life carries on regardless!

Many years ago, (too many to remember) I decided enough was enough, I could not lose weight on my own anymore.  After years of yo-yo dieting (un-successfully I must stress)  I took the initial step of joining a well known slimming club.

Brilliant you might think – end of story.  Oh no, that was the easy bit!  The hardest part is, as any person who has ever dieted knows, keeping it off!  If you have ever been there you will know exactly what I mean.  And they said it was easy!

Over the next 15 years I struggled and battled to keep the scourge away until finally I     succumbed and ended back again at my old club. I felt like a battled weary soldier who had been away to war as I entered the door of the club. What met me was a sea of smiling faces, old friends glad to see me back – even if there was a lot more of me this time!

One thing I have learned over the years is that you should never give up.  You may have a bad day! – So what, everyone does now and again. Get up the next day and put it right behind you, carry on regardless. Go forward, no use looking back that time has passed, now is real time.

Lose weight because you want to, not because other people are cruel and bullying you into doing it.  There are plenty of great slimming clubs out there with people who have been in the same position as you.  They will help you get through the hard times, and believe me there will be plenty before you reach your target weight. They will also be there for you when you finally get to your goal and will help you celebrate your success.  No one needs to diet alone.  I should know, I have been there, done that and have the tea-shirts to prove it.

Your body is the only one you have; look after it and

good luck for the future.
